UNSC and Leadership
As the world becomes increasingly interconnected and multipolar, supranational organizations will become increasingly important. Perhaps none more so than the United Nations. The United Nation’s Security Council aims to maintain international peace and security. However, to succeed in this, the Council needs to expand its permanent membership to reflect this changing world. The UNSC Group at Bridging Nations therefore regularly hosts workshops and publishes research on Security Council reforms. In addition, the UNSC section seems to shift in a totally different direction when it begins with a description of leadership. A conclusion tying Bridging Nation's belief in leadership to the UNSC Group would help clarify the intentions and mission of the group.
Engaging more people into the Security Council debate, and affecting change will require strong leadership, both nationally and globally. Global cooperation will increasingly have to underpin global prosperity. Bridging Nations promotes ‘leadership’ as an important catalyst to a nation’s progress. Leadership is critical in determining a vision for growth and setting up the framework to secure that growth. Nations rise, exist and prosper under able leadership. A country can achieve a competitive advantage when leadership plays the role of founding stone. Leaders in socio-economic fields, businesses, and multiple scientific disciplines contribute to the establishment of a strong nation-state. We, at Bridging Nations, see these leaders as pillars of modern societies and the bedrock of powerful a state. Leaders build nations, bring cultures together and bridge differences. Bridging Nations has actively participated in exploring the role of leadership and is committed to continuing its leadership focused initiatives.
